Reference hardware configuration
Considerations about running the software on Virtual Machines:
- Virtual Machines generally lack a stable and highly-accurate clock source. This is critical requirement for the Packet Sensor and Packet Filter.
- Virtual Machines often suffer from disk I/O bottlenecks. Console needs large disk drives with high I/O transfer rates.
- A predictable allocation of resources is impossible under a VM, making the system potentially unstable.
The first system that we have built for 10Gb packet-based traffic monitoring and DDoS filtering is composed from:
